The incumbent performs a variety of complex administrative tasks in supporting the Tuberculosis and Sexually Transmitted Disease programs of the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County. The position includes preparing and auditing reports, perform quality assurance, procurement of supplies, materials, and formula, record keeping and reconciling of inventories, determining client eligibility for services. The incumbent serves as a point of contact for the TB/STD program to schedule appointments and answer client questions. The incumbent maintains good rapport with patients, department staff and adheres to the established Department of Health values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence. Candidates are typically hired at the minimum salary.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

Data entry, billing, medical records preparation and maintenance, archiving, lab posting, data input, eligibility determination, registration, and appointment setting. Assist clients on the phone and in person with information regarding services and records. Assist coworkers when needed to ensure appropriate and timely services. Responsible for receiving, organizing, and maintaining records of all laboratory results that are reported to DOH-Brevard STD/TB programs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, outside community partners Knowledge of clerical settings, customer service skills in person and over the phone, proficient computer knowledge and skills, ability to multi-task Documented ability to work with multiple computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, EHRs, scanners, faxes, copiers.

Qualifications:

Minimum

Valid driver’s license

High School Diploma/GED

Basic computer knowledge/skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, multiple EHR applications, use of typical office machinery such as copiers, scanners, etc.

Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelters or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to response to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster man-made or natural

  • This position requires daily in-office or field work.
