Position Summary Position Summary Provides specialized business support in the laboratory department. Essential Functions Maintains records and reports of client accounts. Posts charges and/or credits as required for reference tests and to resolve edit reports. Reconciles activity reports and charges for the department. Performs specimen registrations. Keeps the laboratory provider insurance information list current and distributes to all laboratory receiving and registration areas. Regularly communicates and provides education on registration procedures to all laboratory registration personnel. Sets up new client accounts and research studies in the laboratory information system client database. Monitors client activity for direct billing requirements. Verifies client guarantor information and application when establishing the client account. Follows cash collection procedures. Monitors daily registrations and performs updates to registrations as necessary to complete all required data to file a claim. Reviews daily edit reports, investigates and resolves issues. Responds timely to all customer questions regarding billing of laboratory services. Participates in process improvement activities. Exemplifies Orlando Health policy, procedures, value statements and Commitment to Excellence and Code of Conduct standards and compliance program. - Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. - Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Regularly interacts with the hospital financial services department and attends patient financial service department mentor meetings. Performs additional clerical duties as follows: letters to clients, physicians, memorandums, policies/procedures, forms, and spreadsheets. Qualifications Education/Training High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of computer to include Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Licensure/Certification None. Experience One (1) year of related experience.
