The respiratory care educator serves as an expertinrespiratory care forOrlandoHealth to provide consistent, value-added education and competencies to respiratory therapists and other practitioners as needed. Job Title: Experienced Respiratory Care Educator Location: Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, Orlando, FL Department: WPH Respiratory Care - NICU Type: Full Time Shift: Days Experience Three (3) years of critical care experience as a respiratory therapist, to include one (1) year experience in education or precepting. Basic knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer/mechanical training. (Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience) Respiratory Therapists are integral members of the health care team. In accordance with established protocols and under the guidance of the physician, they help determine and deliver appropriate treatment for acute and chronic disorders of the pulmonary and cardiovascular systems. Respiratory Care services are given based on policies, processes and guidelines established by the department and reviewed every three years, and as needed, by the Medical Director. These include, but are not limited to therapeutic and diagnostic use of medical gases and administration apparatus; humidification and aerosol delivery; administration of drugs, medications and therapies to the cardiopulmonary system; ventilatory support, including the maintenance and management of life support systems; breathing exercises; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; airway maintenance, including the insertion of artificial airways; specific testing techniques to assist in diagnosis, monitoring and treatment; including measurement of ventilator volumes, pressure and flows; specimen collection and blood gas analysis and acid/base determinations; pulmonary functions and other related physiologic monitoring of cardiopulmonary systems; insertion and maintenance of arterial catheters and maintenance of hemodynamic monitoring devices. The Respiratory Care Departments at Orlando Health are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Licensure for the blood gas laboratory is by the Agency for Health Care Administration. Respiratory Therapists are licensed by the Florida Department of Health. Licensure/Certification - Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); and - Licensed by the State of Florida (Department of Health); and - Maintains current ACLS if working in adult care ormaintains current PALS and NRP ifserving this patient care population.
