Job Summary
Assists skilled trades employees and performs semiskilled maintenance tasks independently. Assists in the installation and maintenance of fixtures, and routine maintenance of equipment, pipes and machinery. Follows preventive maintenance schedule in performing routine servicing and minor repairs. Assists in the preparation of University's events.
- Sets up of special events, student activities, commencements, and other events that take place outside of the Biscayne Bay Campus. Sets up chairs, tables, staging risers, podiums, flags, and other items appropriate to the event. Places and moves furniture and equipment as needed to facilitate the event.
- Installs freestanding book shelving, installation and assembly of furniture and other equipment, including modular furniture units. Moves and places furniture, filing cabinets, lab equipment, computers, boxes, and other items as they pertain to the move. Installation of dry erase boards, pictures, media centers, artwork, and diplomas, minor repair of furniture.
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs equipment within the Campus Services unit.
- Disassembles and Assembles surplus property. Picks up and delivers to and from the surplus warehouse of surplus property. Off campus pickups of donations and supplies as needed. Delivers computers & furniture to Biscayne Bay Campus, Pines Center, and Brickell Center.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
- Assists with special projects assigned to Campus Services personnel and performs other duties and tasks related to university operations or requirements as may be required by Facilities Management administration and/or other University's administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades; OR a high school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience ; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License - Class E

- Ability to lift/pull/push equipment.
