POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physician Advisor is a key member of the Health First Hospital Division, responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient use of healthcare services. This role involves conducting case reviews, providing clinical guidance, and collaborating with medical staff to meet regulatory requirements and optimize patient outcomes. This role is ideal for a physician leader seeking to impact patient care delivery and operational efficiency in a dynamic hospital environment. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Conduct Case Reviews: Perform comprehensive evaluations of patient cases to ensure proper care levels, length of stay, and resource utilization.
  2. Educate Medical Staff: Provide ongoing education to physicians and healthcare professionals on compliance, documentation, and care standards.
  3. Collaborate on Patient Care: Work closely with attending physicians and healthcare teams to enhance patient care plans and address quality issues.
  4. Facilitate Payer Interactions: Act as a liaison with payers to streamline approvals and address denials effectively.
  5. Improve Documentation: Assist in enhancing clinical documentation for precise coding and accurate data representation.
  6. Promote Quality Improvement: Identify and address factors impacting patient care quality, safety, and satisfaction.


Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
  • Work Experience: five years of clinical experience.
  • Licensure: Established Florida medical license as a Physician.
  • Certification: Board certified in trained specialty.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  1. Proven communication skills.
  2. Capable of effectively conveying complex information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • As above plus:
  • Work Experience:
  1. More than five years of clinical work experience in a hospital setting.
  2. One or more years of experience as a Physician Advisor.
  • Certification: Certified Physician Executive (CPE).
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  1. Exceptional emotional intelligence and advanced communication skills, facilitating effective interactions across diverse groups.
  2. Demonstrated experience in leading quality improvement projects and educating healthcare professionals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
