What you will be doing
The Public Works Field Maintenance Division is offering a hands-on internship opportunity for high school juniors and seniors interested in skilled trades and public service careers. Interns will be placed with one of our operational crews, including the Patch Crew, Sidewalk Crew, or Area Maintenance Crew, to observe and assist with daily roadway, sidewalk, and right-of-way maintenance activities that keep the community safe and functional. Interns will not operate equipment or drive vehicles, but will gain exposure to construction methods, infrastructure maintenance, jobsite safety practices, teamwork, and the role local government plays in maintaining more than 1,500 miles of roadway across the County. This experience provides insight into career pathways in public works, construction trades, infrastructure maintenance, and municipal operations.

Interns support departmental operations through structured, supervised assignments. Responsibilities may include assisting with administrative tasks, supporting field operations where appropriate, participating in team projects, or attending meetings.- Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school
- Minimum age of 14 by program start date
- Ability to commit to the full program duration
